I've got great news

The SQ7.org project continues it's steady, if admittedly slow, progress toward the final goal. We're getting there, but as I've said in previous status reports, this is the part of the game that takes the longest. We're rendering each scene, and working to get it in a shape we can use it in the final game. We're working on SLAGE, and we're working toward getting done.

Artwork

Almost every scene that is going to be in the game has concept work done, giving us a nice 2d sketch of what we're going to see. But modeling, and rendering each of them is still a major stalling point. We're working on new ways to fix that, and new artists to work on things, but we are making steady progress, and hope to see this done sooner, rather than later.

Music

We've been working a lot to flesh out the musical scene in Sq7, and to help give it a rich sense of atmosphere. While the major tracks and themes are done, we're still just getting started working on the sounds, effects, and dialog. Along with this, we're working to create other Space Quest related music, so that we can more fully show off our game ;)

Writing

Our general plotline is in a place where we're happy with it, and has been stable for some time. We're still working on all of the dialouge needed for the game (There ends up being quite a lot of it), but we're pleased with what we have so far. I can tell you with certainty that we've done a great job in giving players both what they want from the previous Space Quest games, and helping to push the series into the future.

Programming

We've been continuing to program SLAGE, our custom java engine for the Sq7 game. We've done a lot of parser work of late, and re-tooling the click-event system to take that into account. While the engine is far from done, we're at a point that if it were just engine stuff left, we could probably release in less than a month.. That said, we're not going to be releasing that soon.. There's still a Lot of work in other areas, and the engine team is glad to have the extra time to try to get things working, and working right, not just good-enough.

In all, The project is making fair great progress toward releasing the next big game in the series. It's clear that the Sq7.org project is going to be the best Space Quest game released, and we're lookign forward to being able to share it with you.
