It seems out little project has obtained more publicity early on that I had hoped ;)
Seeing as I'm getting near daily requests for a status update, I thought I'd do what I can to fill you in a bit on what's new with the project, what were doing, and what to expect next.

The main idea to bring away from this message is that things are continuing, at a steady, if slow pace. While I'd love for them to go faster, frankly I can't offer to pay the volunteers that are working on it, and in this economy, ensuring that food is on the table of their family must always be a priority.
What this means is that people often only get time to work on the project one or two days a week, or for an hour or two a day on weekdays. And that makes it hard.
A commercial development house often has dozens of people working in excess of 40 hours a week. We just can't match that time scale. While the progress we are making is astounding, and the work is both visually interesting, and continues the legacy of our favorite hero, things take time.
We've developed certain shortcuts, and ways of speeding up development, to try to get you a quality game as quickly as possible, but we are dead-set against sacrificing quality to ship an inferior product early. That's why I don't give release dates. We don't want to be held to them, even unofficially.

One of the freedoms that fan project provides us is the ability to ship a product that works as advertised, out of the box (or download, as the case might be). Free from the rush that so often pushes companies to release games that are barely feature complete, and require multiple patches to even be playable, although the rushed writing, plot, and graphics work are still evident.

I've promised the community before that the game will be finished, even if it takes more time than any of us would like. And I mean this to be true. This is a labor of love for me, and for our team, and I know that the result will be a worthy continuation of Roger's legacy.
