I've got great news

For those of you who have been following the Sq7.org project, toward creating a new adventure game staring Roger Wilco, and anxiously awaiting it's release, I've some Good News- I just saved 15% on my car insurance by switching to Geico.
Now that that's out of the way, I'll admit I'm writing a status report under duress. Or while being addressed, Or while wearing a dress. Something like that.. What it comes down to is that we've still moving along.

As a said a couple of status reports ago, there's only so many ways to write that we're still moseying along, getting things done as soon as we can.

The writing is going well. At this point, we're in re-writes. After we finished the first drafts, we realized there were parts that didn't quite 'fit' the universe right.. Being in a Sequel, and a Fan sequel at that, puts us in a hard position.. Everybody has their one view of what is supposed to happen. Everyone has their own visions of SQ7 in their head.. Frankly, we're not going to be most of them. We're going to be ours. But it still puts us in a hard place, because we have less freedom than Sierra might..
Look at the trouble the KQ9 team has been having- people say their game is too dark, and doesn't fit the KQ Universe.. But if Roberta Williams had released the very same game, people would call it a Bold new direction for the series. It adds restrictions, and frankly, restrictions don't make for good comedy.

Artwork is going well, but we need more of it. We have greatly talented artists, but they have jobs of their own, and I can't afford to pay them for Sq7 work.. At least not anything respectable. So we get what we can, and do it when we can. To be honest, with my laptop getting smashed, I've not been as good as I could have been at pushing. But we're getting better, and I've hired a mule team driver to follow them around, and ensure we get things. Or at least have a good laugh. We do have a backup plan, of course.. I knew my major in Crayola studies would come in handy for Something..

Since we last talked, we've been mentioned in The Inventory a while ago, with a few pieces of artwork, and a bit of interview.. I don't know how they cornered us into doing that.. Must have been the free doughnuts.. Or the three-breasted holograms. Both were convincing. The Inventory

Our SLAGE engine is developing at an astounding pace. The new capabilities that we're working on give a great deal of flexibility, such as the ability to stop a running game, and run code, or to make a human-editable savegame.. In all, I'm VERY pleased.

Beyond that, our plan is to just get things done- One way, or another. If I had a mill or two to hire people, we'd be out faster.. But we couldn't get anyone better. People work harder when it's for love. Or when they're rumors about that We've going have an IPO.. Hrmm..

And in my final news item, we may have finished our SEC fillings for the 2004 year.

I'd certainly be happy to address any questions to the proper people, and love nothing better than to deliver a proper SQ7 to all of you, before someone else does it for me.
